Local SEO cost for one location, five locations and fifty

The number

Local SEO in India costs ₹15,000–₹45,000 a month for a single location, and roughly ₹5,000–₹8,000 a month for each additional branch — because branch two doesn't repeat the strategy, tracking and review system that branch one already paid for. Service-area businesses cost more than storefronts.

The short version

  • Local SEO is not priced per month. It's priced per location, with a big fixed cost on the first one.
  • A five-branch quote should look like ₹15,000 + (4 × ₹6,000) = ₹39,000 — not five times ₹15,000.
  • Google Business Profile work, citations and review generation are three separate jobs. Ask for them itemised.
  • If 90% of your revenue comes from inside a 25 km radius, a national SEO retainer is money spent on queries you can't serve.
  • Service-area businesses pay more than storefronts, because you cannot buy proximity.

What ₹15,000 a month of local SEO actually contains

At the bottom of the honest range — around ₹15,000/month for one location — you're buying maybe eight to twelve hours of a competent person's attention. That's enough for a single storefront in a normal town. It is not enough for a dental clinic in South Delhi fighting nine other clinics for the same three map slots.

Google publishes its local ranking factors: relevance, distance and prominence. You cannot change distance. So every rupee of local SEO is spent on the other two, and the work splits into a fixed setup block and a thin monthly block.

  • Profile work — categories, services, attributes, products, photos, Q&A seeded, weekly posts. This is the highest-return hour in local SEO and the one most often skipped after month one.
  • Citations — your name, address and phone identical across Justdial, Sulekha, IndiaMART, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect and thirty more. Mostly a one-time cleanup, then maintenance.
  • Reviews — a system that asks every customer, at the right moment, on WhatsApp or SMS, and routes the reply. This is the single biggest driver of prominence and the hardest thing to fake.
  • The website side — one genuinely useful page per location, local schema, embedded map, click-to-call that's actually tracked.
  • Reporting — map-pack position by keyword and by grid point, calls, direction requests. Not sessions.

The per-branch maths, and the quote that gets it wrong

Here is the part agencies quietly avoid explaining. Location one carries almost all the fixed cost: the keyword and competitor research, the site structure, the review system, the tracking, the reporting template. Location two inherits every bit of that. It adds one profile, one page and one review flow.

So the marginal cost of a branch is roughly ₹5,000–₹8,000 a month, not another full retainer. Any quote that multiplies a single-location price by your branch count is charging you for the same setup five times over.

Three line items that get bundled and shouldn't

"Local SEO" on an invoice hides three jobs with completely different cost shapes. Two are mostly one-off. One is permanent. Ask for them separately and the quote stops being a mystery.

  • Setup, done once and done properly, lands between ₹36,000 and ₹85,000 for a single location. That is a project, not a retainer, and you should be allowed to buy it as one.
  • Ongoing sits at ₹9,500 to ₹21,500 a month. Anything above that is buying content and links, which is regular SEO with a local target.

Storefront or service-area? It changes the price by half again

This is the distinction that decides your budget, and almost no pricing page mentions it.

Storefront — a clinic, a showroom, a restaurant

You have a verified address a customer can walk into. Proximity works for you: you rank strongly for searchers near you and weakly for searchers far away, which is fine, because those aren't your customers anyway.

Budget: the ₹15,000–₹25,000 band covers most single storefronts in tier-2 cities. Competitive metro categories — dental, IVF, cosmetic, legal — push toward ₹45,000 because everyone else is already doing the basics.

Service-area — plumbers, packers and movers, pest control, home services

You hide your address and declare a service area. You can still appear in the map pack, but you're now competing across an entire city rather than a neighbourhood, so proximity stops handing you easy wins and prominence has to carry the whole load.

That means more reviews, more real local pages, and actual link work — which is organic SEO with a local flavour, not profile maintenance. Expect roughly 1.5× to 2× the storefront price for the same city, so ₹25,000–₹60,000 a month.

When local SEO is the whole job — and a national retainer is waste

A lot of single-location businesses get sold a national SEO retainer because it's a bigger invoice. If you can answer yes to most of these, you don't need one, and you should say so out loud on the sales call.

  1. Over 90% of your revenue comes from inside a 25 km radius. Ranking nationally for "best physiotherapy" earns you enquiries from Guwahati you cannot serve.
  2. Your converting queries carry a city or a "near me". Check Search Console. If the modifier is on almost every query, the map pack is your entire battlefield.
  3. You have fewer than 40 reviews. Getting to 150 honest reviews will outperform any amount of blogging, and costs less.
  4. Your competitors' sites are also thin. Local categories often have nobody doing real content. The bar is low; clear it cheaply.
  5. You have no product to ship and no remote service to sell. No delivery radius, no national demand, no national retainer.

Where we sit, and when we'd tell you to go elsewhere

Last Agency runs SEO from ₹75,000/month, with smaller sites from ₹40,000/month, ex-GST. We do not sell a ₹15,000 local package, and pretending otherwise would waste both our time.

So the honest advice: if you're one clinic, one salon or one showroom, hire a good local freelancer at ₹15,000–₹20,000, or run the profile and the review system yourself for the first year — most of it is genuinely doable in-house. Come to us when you have five or more locations, or when you're competing for queries that don't have a city attached. We publish what SEO costs a small business with the same bluntness.

When we do take a multi-location brief, it sits inside our normal retainer and our normal guarantee: we freeze your trailing-90-day qualified leads from organic on day one, and if we haven't beaten that number in 90 days we keep working free until we do. We never promise a specific map-pack position, because nobody controls that. Full scope on local SEO services.

How much does local SEO cost per month in India?

₹15,000 to ₹45,000 a month for one location, depending on how competitive the category is. Tier-2 storefronts sit near the bottom of that range; metro dental, legal and cosmetic clinics sit at the top because every competitor already has the basics covered.

Should I pay per location for local SEO?

Per location, yes — but not at the same rate. The first location carries the research, tracking and review system. Each extra branch adds only a profile, a page and a review flow, which is roughly ₹5,000–₹8,000 a month. A quote that multiplies your single-location price by branch count is overcharging.

Is Google Business Profile optimisation the same as local SEO?

No. Profile optimisation is one of three jobs, alongside citation consistency and review generation, plus the website work underneath. Profile-only packages exist and cost ₹3,000–₹6,000 a month. They help, but they cap out quickly once your competitors have done the same.

Why does local SEO cost more for a service-area business?

Because you hide your address and compete across a whole city instead of a neighbourhood, so proximity stops helping you. Prominence — reviews, links, real local pages — has to do all the work. Expect 1.5× to 2× a comparable storefront, around ₹25,000–₹60,000 a month.

Can I do local SEO myself instead of paying an agency?

For a single location, genuinely yes. Fill out every field on your Google Business Profile, fix your name, address and phone everywhere it appears, post weekly, and build a habit of asking every happy customer for a review. That's most of the value, and it costs your time rather than a retainer.
