Nobody buying a spare part searches the way a keyword tool suggests. They search brake pad for 2018 Swift Dzire VDI or air filter Creta 1.5 petrol 2021, because a facelift year or a variant code is the difference between a part that fits and a part that goes back in the courier bag.

That intent is one your blog cannot serve. An article called 'How to choose brake pads' will never satisfy someone who already knows what they want and needs to know whether yours fits their car. This is the rare category where a well-built database beats a well-written essay, and it's why so many parts catalogues with a busy blog still get almost no revenue from search.

Fitment architecture: which combinations earn a URL

Model times year times variant times fuel times part category multiplies fast. Cover 40 models across ten model years, four variants and 60 part categories and you're looking at close to a million theoretical pages — a scaled-content risk and a crawl budget problem in the same breath. The answer isn't to build all of it, and it isn't to build none of it.

Pick the tier by real search demand, not by what the product database can generate.

  • A fitment page that only lists SKUs is thin. Add what changed between generations, the size or torque spec, and the symptom that sends people looking in the first place.
  • Don't let the filter widget mint URLs. Every model-year-variant permutation exposed as a crawlable parameter is how a 4,000-SKU catalogue ends up serving several hundred thousand near-identical pages to Googlebot.
  • Put the fitment answer above the fold, written as a sentence a human can read, not locked inside an attachment.

Part numbers are a search vertical you're probably ignoring

A large share of aftermarket demand starts with a number rather than a name. The mechanic reads it off the old component; the fleet buyer pastes it from a purchase order. Those queries are short, unambiguous and close to the transaction — and most Indian parts sites either hide the number three tabs deep or never publish it as text at all.

Cross-referencing is the part that pays. If your component replaces an OE number, publish both: your number, the OE equivalent, and the competing aftermarket numbers you're interchangeable with. One canonical page per number, linked from every product it applies to, so the page consolidates instead of splitting across a dozen near-duplicates.

Then mark it up properly. Product with sku, mpn, brand and offers.price in INR, plus isAccessoryOrSparePartFor pointing at the vehicles it fits. That last property is the one almost everybody skips, and it's the one that tells a machine what your fitment table tells a human.

You will not beat the marketplaces on the number alone

For a bare part-number query, a large marketplace usually wins. It has more referring domains, more indexed listings, and the number appears across twenty of its pages. Budgeting to beat it head-on for <number> price is money spent finishing second.

What you can win is everything wrapped around the number: whether it's OE, OES or aftermarket, what the warranty actually covers, which assembly fails next, and whether there's an installer near the buyer. Marketplace pages are generated from a supplier feed. Yours doesn't have to be — and in parts, where a wrong fitment costs a week of downtime, buyers actively hunt for the source that sounds certain.

The general form of this argument sits in SEO versus selling through marketplaces. In automotive it's sharper, because the cost of the wrong answer is higher.

One page per bay, not one page for the whole network

If you run service centres, the largest unclaimed demand isn't on your website. It's in the map pack: car service near me, <brand> service centre <locality>, clutch replacement cost <city>. That traffic converts in days rather than quarters, which makes it the first thing worth fixing.

Every physical location needs its own Google Business Profile and its own page, and the two have to agree on name, address and phone down to the punctuation. A single network page with 22 branches behind a dropdown is one page competing in 22 local markets, which in practice means it competes in none of them.   • Per-branch page — address, hours, the services that branch actually performs, the manager's name, real photographs of that workshop rather than stock images of a different one.
  • Service-cost content per city, because labour rates differ between metros and the query almost always includes a price.
  • Booking on the page, not three clicks into a portal. In India a WhatsApp thread converts better than a form, and it's easier to staff.
  • Reviews requested at handover, per location. Reviews sitting on the head-office profile do nothing for the branch eight kilometres away.

EV changed the questions before it changed the market

EV buyers research differently. Their searches are about running cost and anxiety, not badge and mileage: real-world range against certified range, charging time on a 15A socket versus a fast charger, cost per kilometre against petrol, battery warranty terms, what a home charger installation involves and who signs off on the wiring.

That's a content cluster where component makers, charger companies, fleets and dealers all have a legitimate claim to the answer. Answer with figures you can defend — your own tested numbers, or the certified figure clearly labelled as certified. The gap between those two is precisely what people are searching to find out, so pretending it doesn't exist loses you the reader you were trying to win.
